Step outside your comfort zone - begin your future career with Swire Australia’s Management Trainee Program. If you are an adventurous and ambitious individual you’ll have the unique opportunity to take on early responsibility and thrive in any one of our exciting and varied businesses and work locations.

About Swire
The Australian Swire group is a diversified business, spanning multiple industries including cold storage and logistics, specialist bulk logistics, recycling of construction and demolition waste (into civil construction materials), asphalt production and laying, mining services, mining equipment rental and industrial property.

We are committed to the sustainable development of our businesses and we take the long-term view – in relationships with our people, our partners and customers, the communities in which we operate, and in finding new ways to reduce the resources we use. Our history has been built on the strength of our people; we place great emphasis on their development.

About the Swire Australia Program
We are committed to developing talented young managers so they can grow into highly capable, mobile and flexible leaders of our Australian businesses. We know you can learn, so we focus on making sure you gain diverse experiences, have regular interaction with senior management, and progress your career.

Our experience shows us exposure to different industries and access to senior leadership builds outstanding management skills. We’ll support you with access to a wide range of experienced professionals, and direct exposure to key decision makers, so they can pass on their expertise and skills. The most senior leaders in the company – the group CEO, executive directors, managing directors, and general managers – take an active interest in who the management trainees are and what’s best for your development.

We do business all over Australia. You could find yourself on assignment in any one of our businesses for 12-18 months in any location. Our key consideration is identifying where you can access the best experiences to accelerate your development. Wherever it is, you’ll have the opportunity to make an impact.

Assignments are generalist in nature and we expect to see value being added in areas which are new and unfamiliar. You will complete three rotations: the first in a head office environment learning about the inner workings of a business; the second out in the operations learning about customer and workforce dynamics; and the third taking on direct operational leadership responsibility.

This provides the opportunity to learn about the operations first hand, out in the field working directly with the customer and the frontline workforce. It provides experiential development of how to lead a team while consolidating prior learning. All the while you will move between different functions, companies and geographies, allowing you to gain a diversity of experience and develop outstanding leadership skills.

You will learn to cope with unexpected challenges in unfamiliar surroundings, gain exposure to an extraordinary range of business areas, and build a long-term but highly diverse career in general management.

About you
